This workshop introduces learners to fundamental learning models and how their application dictates success in a graduate school, including information processing and learning preferences. 

After attending these workshops, learners will: 

• Understand the process of how people, as learners, acquire information, the ensuing thought process, and spaced active recall leads to better learning outcomes 
• Understand the four different learning modalities and how they can be harnessed to be a more effective learner 
• Learn the importance of incorporating practice questions immediately into their study routine (versus waiting until shortly before the exam) for long-term recall and application 

This session equips learners with the necessary skills to prepare for a lecture and construct a useful set of notes to reinforce learning. 

After attending this session, participants will be able to: 

• Use techniques to 鈥減rime鈥� themselves for learning before attending a lecture 
• Understand the difference between active and passive listening and how to deploy both during a lecture strategically 
• Achieve the right level of balance between listening and writing 
• Create useful notes documents in class that support learning and can be easily adapted into useful study tools later

This workshop gives attendees a solid frame of reference to analyze their overall and short-term progress through their respective programs and employ that knowledge to be more effective in their weekly academic pursuits. 

After completing this presentation series, students will: 

• Apply time-blocking and task-management strategies to address procrastination effectively 
• How to set and achieve realistic, measurable weekly goals and the role that self-care plays in supporting that process 
• Be realistic about the time that they are allotting themselves to complete tasks by maintaining a consistent progress tracker 

This workshop equips attendees with relevant study and testing strategies for unique materials and questions prevalent in their academic program. 

After attending the workshop, learners will: 

• Understand the distinct types of test-takers
• Be able to identify their strengths and weaknesses regarding course examinations 
• Review types of questions they will encounter on course exams 
• Practice strategies for accurately reasoning through and answering course exam questions 

This session frames the topics of resiliency and stress management into clearly definable and identifiable habits and behaviors and gives learners practical action items to monitor and encourage both. 

After attending this session, participants will: 

• Understand the limits of their physical, mental, and emotional energies 
• Affirm that daily self-care is a requirement to keep functioning at their optimum level, not a reward 
• Employ techniques to monitor and encourage their ongoing monitoring of their mental health and being resilient during challenging circumstances
