Ïã¸Û6ºÏ¿ª½±½á¹û Identifies Policy and Ethical Implications of Abortion Bans and Prohibitions

With a number of states, including Texas, banning abortion and enacting laws that greatly limit the procedure, many healthcare professionals are seeking guidance on how to legally provide safe and effective reproductive care for their patients. Ïã¸Û6ºÏ¿ª½±½á¹û is a non-partisan, not-for-profit academic institution. We are committed to educating trainees with the skills they need to competently provide care for their future patients; to providing evidence-based, ethical care to our patients; and to serving the needs of our greater Houston community and beyond. In particular, we are committed to the following ethical principles, which we hope will guide future policy making and practice.

Each year in this country, one in five adults and one in six youth experience a mental health disorder. Mental illness is associated with considerable disability and societal cost. It is the leading cause of disability worldwide and individuals with serious mental illness die an average of 25 years younger than the general population.

Expanding our role in promoting trust in science for COVID-19 vaccine acceptance and beyond

Ending the COVID-19 pandemic will require decisions that are science-based. It will require the public to trust the evidence supporting those decisions and trust that decisions are being made in the interest of protecting the health and well-being of all people representing the diversity of our American culture and the communities in which they live.
